MATERIALS 

• Broad-edged pens, at least two contrasting sizes, metal dip pens, parallel pens, or quality calligraphy markers of your choice 

• Pointed pens, optional, but they make a nice contrast with broad pen strokes 

• Ink: black and 2-3 more colors of your choice 

• Gouache in assorted colors (if you have and know how to use in your pens) 

• Brushes, water cup, and containers or palette for mixing gouache 

• Translucent marker layout paper, 8½” x 11”(e.g. Bienfang Graphics 360 or Borden & Riley Layout Paper for Markers) 

• Additional items: compass, protractor, ruler (12” minimum), pencil, eraser 

• OPTIONAL: if you want to make a finished piece during the workshop, please bring 1-2 pieces of “good”paper , e.g. Arches text, that takes ink well, cut to 10” x 10” squares
