Gilding Workshop with Rosemary Buczek
Saturday, March 7, 2026
9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Rutger's University, Camden
Fine Arts Building

In honor of the PCS Golden Anniversary this year, we have Rosemary Buczek, a renowned calligrapher and illuminator, offering a Gilding Class, our first in-person workshop since the pandemic!

Rosemary will guide us in learning about everything GOLD! She will share her method and recipe for making shell gold and give us a try at gilding with gesso. We will use Miniatum, a synthetic size for paper gilding that allows for both flat and raised gold images. No experience is necessary for this class, but anyone with previous gilding experience will undoubtedly gain valuable new tips.

Rosemary will provide a sample for each student to work on as well as numerous materials including gold leaf, brushes, watercolor paper, the use of burnishers, and some vellum for a $20 materials fee, payable to her at the workshop.

Students need to bring some basic tools: a pointed pen, pencil & paper for note taking, a shot glass or small glass dish or “salt cellar” for Miniatum (which sticks permanently to plastic), and any other materials you like to have on hand at a workshop.

The workshop will be limited to 15 students.
